Outdoor fitness and adventure training is something I've always done. As a former N.A.B.B.A. Miss Scotland I had a weekly fitness show on the radio. It may seem unusual to have a radio keep fit show, but it became very popular with listeners and ran for over 3 years.

Since then, I've gone on to become an author, and although I've always been interested in fitness and kept up my training, I do spend a lot of time sitting writing at the computer. I balance this with keeping fit outdoors. Luckily, I live in a beautiful part of Scotland, near the coast (great for swimming in the rain because that's when the water feels warmer, sand and dune running, and rock climbing).

And it's near the countryside, and ideal for hillrunning.

Indoors, I practise martial arts, and I dance.

Yesterday, Wednesday 10 March 2010, the cold, snowy weather brightened to a dazzling sunshine, so I ventured down to the shore before lunch for some outdoor training.

I'm standing on Ayr shore looking across towards the Isle of Arran and the Heads of Ayr. The air was crystal clear and the sea looked like liquid silver. A great day.

When I showed this pic to friends, they said it reminded them of an Oscar.
