He has naturally aggressive tendencies, and wants to be able to defend himself and others. What would be a good martial arts style for him to learn?

Brazillian Jujitsu is a good style for an aggressive person who likes to fight in close. A perfect compliment for this style is Muay Thai, which has a lot of clinch work, elbows an knees.

I would say the quick and deadly white eyebrow and shaolin kung fu styles, with a little chen style taiji to cool down

To protect himself and others…Jeet Kune Do; Krav Maga; Filipino Martial Arts; Reality-based systems…Tai Chi would teach him patience and how to slow down

The martial arts art not about teaching agressive people to hurt others. An aggression issue needs to be addressed before any martial arts training begins.
Any reputable martial arts instructor will not teach anyone that has aggression issues.

No matter what they say, Brazilian JiuJitsu is inappropriate as a self defense art unless you can guarantee you’ll only ever face one unarmed opponent at a time, on a matted surface, and not have anything on your person (such as keys) that can harm you when slammed against the ground.

Krav Maga, Ketsugo Jujutsu, Silat are all good choices.

He should not learn martial arts.

He needs to calm his mind and heart.
